I studied in Graduated Institute of National Development, National
Taiwan University (NTU). Besides, I have the teacher certification of 12-year
national education.
In fact, I had not planned to be an exchange
student before studying in NTU. It is considered of two reasons. I had wanted
to get master degree and the Civil and Society teacher certification of Secondary
Education as soon as possible during the period of graduate student. In
addition, my English is not as well as those NTU classmates who are eager to
exchange-study in USA or Europe—Actually, I would like to study in Norway because
I am curious that their criminal justice system and social values—for example, I
do not fully recognize how Norway people could accept there is none death
penalty, and the maximum of prison term is just 21 years.
However, it is dramatic that I am increasingly like
to learn more courses after I began to study in NTU. There are many kinds of courses
in NTU. It is expected that anyone could learn much knowledge if he or she has
ambition to know this world much more. Except of this idea, I also planned to receive
the History teacher certification of Secondary Education because it is my
favorite subject in senior high school. According to Teacher Education Act, it is necessary to study more related courses
in University. In fact, I have a minor diploma of History and Geography which
is issued by Taipei Municipal University of Education (known as University of
Taipei currently), so I had studied many history and geography courses.
When I had completed the required courses soon,
some ideas had bumped into my brain—how about being a NTU student but also studying
a little history courses in China? Taking a survey for the courses of departments
of history of Mainland China, I found that there are many similar titles of
history courses between cross-strait Universities. By the way, one of my major
is China study and relationship between Taiwan and China. It is suggested to acquire
the political culture through experiencing the everyday life in Mainland. As a
result, I decided to be one-semester exchange student in Shanghai, and selected
Fudan University, one of a historical and famous school in China, as my exchange
school.
Finally, I am grateful to share some information
about my studies in China. Actually, it was not smooth to select courses due to
few administrative problems—one of the factor of Socialism with Chinese
Characteristics? Whatever, I have not only selected five courses, but also been
attending undergraduate course—Basic Korean Language. Most of the selected ones
are professional subjects for History graduate students, but I also selected “Information
Retrieval and Applications” to learn the ability of retrieving and applying
information systematically, and ensure there are some planned speed of my
degree essay simultaneously. In order to let readers scan concisely, I drew a user-friendly
picture as following to express my major studying courses in Fudan University.
